Acceptance Through Acrylics

Lately I’ve found myself picking up my paintbrushes, dipping them into acrylic paints, and applying them to an empty canvas. The satisfaction that comes from the simple act of mixing one paint with another , and watching the swirls of pigments coalesce into the creation of a new color is pure joy. Sometimes I find myself getting lost in this meditation, or what is otherwise a necessary preparatory measure to painting.

In contrast to drawing, painting is an insecurity of mine. It’s pretty amazing how when we allow ourselves to acknowledge the feelings of inadequacy, and accept them for what they are – a feeling – this frees us to chose to explore without harsh judgement from our inner critics.
